Why I am glad I self-published!

December 7, 2008

My initial reasons for self-publishing (and self-disbributing):

1. Unable to get book contract.

2. Able to control all aspects of the book, no need to worry about the book going out of print or not being available to consumers.

3. Able to control revenue stream, pay for marketing, and keep all the profits.

4. Able to control my distribution chanels. I sell through Amazon, which is very good to small publishers. I am also selling through several catalogues, and of course, my own websites. I don’t use the big wholesalers or distributors. Again, I keep the profits, and don’t end up getting swamped with returns.

New reason to be glad that I self-published and self-distribute . . . I don’t have to worry about the contraction of most of the major publishing houses or potential bankruptcy of the major chain stores. My book will continue to be in print! My book, The DASH Diet Action Plan, will continue to help people live a healthier life. This win-win situation will continue to reward my hard work.
